$1m winning lottery ticket goes unclaimed
An unclaimed winner of $1,000,000 in the USA Powerball six months ago has had their potential fortune wiped out after the deadline to claim passed on Monday.
The winning ticket was sold at a Circle K in Louisville for numbers which were drawn on April 10th.
Hoosier Lottery announced on Monday that no one had come forward with the ticket to claim the winnings – the ticket which matched 5 numbers (1-36-40-52-53) is now void.
Every year around $10 million in winnings goes unclaimed in the Hoosier Lottery alone. The largest unclaimed ticket was in 2002 when a $50 million Powerball winning ticket did not come forward. All unclaimed winnings are returned to state and in this case will be shared amount firefighter and teacher retirement funds.
